Mevlânâ Celâleddin Mehmed Rumi, ore popularly simply as Rumi (30 September 1207 – 17 December 1273), was a 13th-century Persian poet, Hanafi faqih, Islamic scholar, Maturidi theologian, and Sufi mystic originally from Greater Khorasan in Greater Iran.
What is Zentangle?
The Zentangle® Art Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns.
Once upon a time, Rick and Maria sold prints of Maria’s botanical illustrations at art fairs. In the fall of 2003, Rick interrupted Maria in her studio as she added patterns to the background of a large gilded letter. Rick’s sudden interruption caused her to notice what she was experiencing just before he interrupted her. Maria described feelings of selflessness, timelessness, effortlessness and a rich immersion in what she was doing – all classic aspects of a flow state. Rick, who had practiced meditation for many years, said, “You’re describing meditation.” And so began the idea that grew to become the Zentangle® Method of drawing.
“Zen” stands for the peace of mind. By concentrating our minds on our pens and paper, we forget all that's surrounding us, and by drawing slowly, we feel and savour the present; while “Tangle” represents art, stroke after stroke, by repeating the same patterns to construct a drawing through simple and structured steps, using repetitive lines and graphics to fill the space on the paper tiles. The patterns can be extended to any direction at will, putting aside all the so-called boundaries and rules, and entering a state of contemplation and meditation through the creative process. After understanding Zentangle® Art, you will learn both the structure and concept behind it are simple and easy to grasp, and everyone can create and enjoy the process anytime, anywhere. By concentrating and focusing in the Zentangle® Art process, its calming and relaxing healing effect can also reduce and relieve the stress and anxiety brought about by daily life.
Introduction to Basic Zentangle® Method
Zentangle® is easy-to-earn for anyone who think they lack drawing skills, do not have the space, do not have the time, do not… (with a myriad reasons to limit themselves); it is so simple, Zentangle® is for anyone who can hold a pen. Anyone can try to relax for more than 10 minutes, and untangle themselves by immersing themselves in Zentangle® . Anyone can be a creative Zentangle® artist, all you need is a fine pen, a pencil, a paper tile and a confidence for trying.
Zentangle® patterns are unplanned, abstract, black-and-white art made up of beautiful patterns. It is spontaneous and free-flowing so you can focus on each stroke and not worry about the result.

White Zentangle® Tiles Creations
The Zentangle® Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. We call these patterns, tangles. You create tangles with combinations of dots, lines, simple curves, S-curves and orbs. These simple shapes are the "Elemental Strokes" in all Zentangle® art. These patterns are drawn on small pieces of paper called “tiles."
Zentangle® patterns are divided in 2 categories: Organic & Geometric Pattern. Organic Patterns grow naturally with vitality, like plants; Geometric Patterns are more structural, showing 3-dimensional effects through repeat lines. Both Zentangle® patterns render mesmerizing charms with their shapes and visual impacts. By learning their interesting core values, students are encouraged to learn to express differently - neatly and regularly, or unhinged dramatic strokes, they can enjoy their experience of creating their favorite Zentangle® Art in their own ways.
Renaissance Zentangle® Tiles Creations
Renaissance Tiles originated in the Renaissance period, used as drafting paper by the master artists. We tend to be more relaxed when we are drafting, as we are less worried about making mistakes, we’d see a more carefree and casual beauty in our drafts. Nowadays, we are still referring to, admiring and research on sketches of these master artists.
Zentangle + Paper Art + Paintis = Infinite Possibilities
Once students have a better understanding of Zentangle’s basic techniques, they may add their personal favourite elements onto their own Zentangle drawings. Teacher Puck will teach them to apply different paints to add layers to their drawings, and add dimensions with paper art.
Zentangle® Art Course Details
LEVEL 1 - My Zentangle® Paper Tile Creation (Beginner Course)
Four lessons
Experience duration：Approximately 2 hours, depending on class situations
Participants：Above 12 years old, interested in creation statically
(classes can form with 4-6 persons)

Comprehensive understanding of the philosophies behind the Zentangle Method of drawing, the origin of Zentangle Method, its concept and spirit and the "Elemental Strokes" in all Zentangle art. Practise the use of the drawing tools.

Learn about basic tangles and tangling techniques. Practise Zentangle method, Such as String theory and shading, etc.

To experience the philosophies of “Anything is possible, one stroke at a time™); and to practise “brain yoga” in order to enhance relaxation and focus.
